How to Print Coloring Pages for Free (Phone, Tablet or Computer)
Open a coloring page, choose US Letter or A4 to match your paper, and print the PDF with scaling set to "Fit to page". That works from a computer, phone or tablet. Set the printer to black and white or grayscale to save color ink. On Unruffled, every printable page and PDF is free, with no ads and no account needed.
Pick the right paper size
Printers in the US and Canada mostly use US Letter (8.5 by 11 inches). Most other countries use A4, which is a little narrower and taller. If you print a page made for the other size, the edges may be cut off or the picture may shrink with wide margins.
Every page on Unruffled comes in both sizes. Pick the one that matches the paper in your tray, and pick the same size in the print dialog.
Printing from a computer
- Open the coloring page and choose the PDF in your paper size.
- Open the print dialog. On Windows press Ctrl+P, on a Mac press Command+P.
- Check that the paper size matches your paper.
- Set scaling to "Fit to page" or "Fit to printable area". Avoid custom zoom unless you want the picture bigger or smaller.
- Choose portrait or landscape to match the page. Most coloring pages are portrait.
- Print one copy first to check it, then print more.
Printing the PDF, rather than the web page itself, keeps out menus and buttons and gives cleaner lines. If lines look faint, check that your printer is not set to a very low ink mode.
Printing from a phone or tablet
Most phones and tablets can print to a wireless printer on the same Wi-Fi network.
- iPhone or iPad: open the PDF, tap the Share button, then tap Print. Choose your printer and check the paper size.
- Android: open the PDF, tap the menu (often three dots), then tap Print. Pick your printer from the list at the top.
If your printer does not show up, check that the phone and printer are on the same network. Some printers need their maker's app installed first. You can also save the PDF to your phone and print it later from a computer, or email it to yourself.
Save ink and paper
- Print in grayscale or black and white. Coloring pages are line art, so they look the same.
- Use "draft" or "economy" quality for everyday pages. Lines stay clear enough to color.
- Print one test copy before printing a stack.
- Pick pages that suit the child. Toddlers may only color a corner of a detailed page, while easy pages with big shapes get used fully.
- Print on both sides only for crayons or pencils. Markers can show through.
For crayons and pencils, ordinary copy paper is fine. For markers, heavier paper helps. See our guide to the best paper for coloring pages.
Printing several pages at once
If you want a bundle for a rainy day or a trip, a pack saves time. Our free 10-page packs come as a single PDF, so you print them in one go, and they need no email. Themed sets such as Christmas and winter pages are handy around the holidays.
Teachers printing a class set can find tips on quantities and rules in our guide to coloring pages for the classroom.
No printer? Color online
If you cannot print, kids can color online in the browser with no account. It works on most computers, phones and tablets. For the youngest children, toddler mode is tap-to-fill with 8 big colors. You can also try our coloring games.
Our pages are free to print for home and classroom use. Please do not resell them or post them on other websites.
